彭修文（1931－1996），出生于湖北汉口。杰出的民族音乐大师、中国现代民族管弦乐队创始人之一。代表作品有上世纪五十年代的《步步高》、《彩云追月》、《瑶族舞曲》、《气壮山河》、音乐传奇《秦香莲》；六十年的《月儿高》、《抗日战争歌曲主题狂想曲》；七十年代的《丰收锣鼓》、二胡协奏曲《不屈的苏武》、《乱云飞》、交响诗《流水操》；八十年代的《灵山梵呗》、《云中鹤》、交响诗《怀》、幻想曲《秦兵马俑》；九十年代的套曲《十二月》、第一交响乐《金陵》等，都成为中国民族管弦各个发展阶段的典范和标志。他的作品数量多、题材广、体裁丰富，体现了他高深的文学、历史和艺术修养，为中国民族乐器演奏法、中国民族器乐作曲法和中国民族管弦乐器法提供了范本，做出了重要的贡献。他在中国广播民族乐团执棒43年之久，这在世界乐坛是罕见的，中国广播民族乐团由此成为活跃在世界音乐舞台的著名乐团。
