杨荫浏（1899—1984），出生在江苏无锡。字亮卿，号二壮，又号清如。音乐教育家，公认的中国民族音乐学的奠基者。他对无锡道教音乐、青城山道教音乐、中国基督教圣乐、北京智化寺音乐、西安鼓乐、五台山寺庙音乐、湖南宗教音乐等都进行了深入的调查研究，堪称宗教音乐研究领域的先锋。他用30多年时间和毕生心血编著了《中国古代音乐史稿》。完成专著20多种、论文近百篇。其中有《天韵社曲谱》、《雅音集》、《文板十二曲琵琶谱》、《古琴曲汇编》、《关汉卿戏曲乐谱》、《语言音乐学初探》等。他通过运算和实验，先后发表了有关乐律方面的专著和论文，把我国民族音乐实践中经常遇到的乐律问题及乐律史的研究提高到一个新的水平。杨荫浏会多种乐器尤擅竹笛，得到吴畹卿嫡传，夙负盛名，吹奏时，高音晶莹清澈，低音细若游丝，故誉为"杨笛子"。他曾为无锡乐器店排老红木优质琵琶品位，解决竹笛音准问题，提高乐器质量，并根据大量实验结果，制成笛尺，可以按尺开笛孔。
