黄玉林，男，汉族，生于1942年12月，专科文化。中国大众音乐协会会员。

一九五九年参军到部队，曾任原昆明军区后勤第二十三分部文化工作队副队长职。一九六八年下地方后曾任原普洱县工人俱乐部主任、原思茅地区音乐家协会理事、普洱水泥厂工人业余艺术团团长。一九七六年被单位选送到昆明群众艺术馆，师从冯玉才老师学习乐队指挥。一九九二年考入中国函授音乐学院作曲系学习。多年来一直坚持音乐歌曲创作，作品曾金奖荣获国家级、省级、县级的奖励，同时在省、地、县刊物发表。在创作过程中反复锤炼，逐步形成自己独特的艺术风格。
